Windsurfing


The team learned more about the sport of windsurfing at a small beach outside of Martigues.  A Rotary member's son-Jean Baptiste-can be seen in this picture.  He is ranked as the 13th best windsurfer in the world and the 2nd best in France.  

Helping for a Rotarian charity event!


Ellen and Jonathan helped hang rotary banners for a charity event which benefits the cure of a rare disease for two children.

LyondellBasell, a petro-oil refinery

Our guide to the petroleum oil plant took a photo of the team in front of the entrance of company.  Max, a biochemist at LyondellBasell gave us a indepth tour of the plant which was informative for each of us.

Ellen gives history lesson....


We attended a rotary meeting Thursday evening in Martigue and the members and guests watch as Ellen gives a history lesson on French and American connections.

On Thursday, the team took a moment to imitate the flamingos that live in the natural santcuary in Carmargue.  Pictured with us is Pierre-Badere,  Marcel and Josie who are bird enthusiasts.

Regatta in Marseille


The team saw the sailboats coming into the marina at Marseille. They were practicing for the Audi Regatta which is being held this weekend.

Movies in Martigues

We visited Prosper's house and watched a movie about the Rose Bowl. He has a collection of films and projectors which will be used to open a new museum.

Oh la la



This is a veiw of the 50th anniversary celebration from a distance. An incredible experience. Once again, you might be able to see the statue of Augustus.

Mireille and Christian coordinated the team's visit while staying in Orange and Avignon. They are a wonderful couple!

Orange Rotary Club


The team was invited to the 50th anniversary celebration of the Orange Rotary Club. The event was held in the Antique Theater (you might be able to see a statue of Augustus in the background).

The team sang our national anthem only after being challenged by our hosts.
